Status	Requirement
New Leader		Leader candidate chooses any current ride leader as peer instructor.
		Peer instructor trains leader candidate in one peer review session anytime during the year.
		Leader candidate leads two rides with peer instructor.
		New leader leads three rides for the year. The two rides with the peer instructor count towards the three rides.
Current Leader		Lead three rides during an operating year.
		Attend the Leader Refresher the following year.
Former Leader		A leader who has not:
		Led three rides during an operating year.
		Attended the Leader Refresher the following year.
	is a former leader. Former leaders are not authorized to lead rides for HBC.
Former Leader Re-authorization	A former leader who takes new leader training will be re-authorized to lead rides for HBC. Such a leader is not required to lead two rides with his of her peer instructor.
